Head-Roc Debuts “Chocolate City Rocks” at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage
Washington, DC – DC Hip-Hop artist Head-Roc (www.head-roc.com), known worldwide as “The Mayor of DC Hip-Hop”, is producing four “People of Culture” driven performances under his “Chocolate City Rocks” brand initiative at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage. The Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage performances occur daily at 6pm and is part of its ‘Performing Arts for Everyone’ initiative featuring local, national, and international talents, and is free and open to the public for all ages. “Chocolate City Rocks” is a DC-based grassroots initiative started in 2010 by Vance “Head-Roc” Levy to promote a greater public awareness and patronage of Washington DC area’s conscious and cultural artist community. The first “Chocolate City Rocks” branded performance took place in 2010 at The Black Cat “Back Stage” in front of a sold out, standing room only audience and featured Head-Roc’s award winning Funk Rock band GODISHEUS, along with local heavyweights Violet Says 5 and Farrafina Khan.
Head-Roc has named Risikat “Kat” Okedeyi of Lil SoSo Productions as Director and Host of all four Chocolate City Rocks performances. Lil So-So Productions is a woman-owned and run company based in Silver Spring, MD that specializes in cultural architecture. (www.lilsoso.com)
Head-Roc has also selected Cory Stowers to be the creative and marketing force behind the “Chocolate City Rocks” design brand. The two have worked together extensively over several years, and to Mr. Stowers’ credit, he played an instrumental role in the ‘Words, Beats, & Life’ and ‘Art Under Pressure’ successful visual branding efforts. Head-Roc has been on the front line of professional entertainers using their talents to support the United States progressive agenda for the past twelve years. He is highly recognized as a performing artist and distinguished by many awards for his work as a D.I.Y musician, artist advocate, and community activism.
